There’s a lyric in an old rock song that goes “…your hand’s wet with sweat and your head needs a rest” that points to how connected the mind and body are. Change for the better or worse brings along the other for the ride. Codependents generally spend a lot of time locked up in their heads with their thoughts, but the body knows what is happening. The mind catalogues what the body feels and the body stores what the mind thinks. Consequently a simple smell, a light touch, light moving in a certain way or a thousand other things can trigger an unconscious reaction. With awareness and intention over time can one come to know that not feeling well sometimes has little to do with the body and all to do with what is locked up in the mind. What is stuffed away not fully felt, grieved or understood will either explode forth one day doing great injury all at once or else will do its damage consistently in smaller little ways for all of one’s life.
The game of life is the game of boomerangs.
Our thoughts, deeds and words return to us
sooner or later, with astounding accuracy.
